The Department of Physics is one of the oldest departments of KNRTU. It was established in 1930 under the leadership of Full Professor A.D. Goldgammer. Since 1994 the Department has been chaired by Professor E.S. Nefedjev. The Department has close links with Russian largest enterprise of tyre industry “Nizhnekamskshina” (www.shina-kama.ru). This collaboration resulted in new formulas of rubber mixes with improved adhesive and mechanical properties.

Academics

The Department gives classes for all students of the University in general physics, molecular physics, physics of atom, electricity, magnetism and quantum mechanics. Students do not only study the structure of physical law, but also take part in its discovery.

Research

• study of matter structure using NMR and EPR spectroscopy;
• structure and properties of sealing compositions;
• production technology of new composite materials;
• acid-base and energetic properties of organic and inorganic surfaces;
• conformational dynamics of polyolefins;
• industrial synthesis, vulcanizing processes, modification of liquid thiokols;
• NMR relaxation in heterogenic multiphase systems;
• rheological properties of liquids, high molecular weight compounds, food products.
