The Department of Chemical Technology of Petroleum and Gas Processing was created in 1954 due to rapid growth of petroleum industry in Tatarstan. The first Department Chair was Associate Professor L.M. Kozlov.

Academics

The Department runs Specialist, Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree programs in “Oil and Natural Gas Technology”, “Lubricating Materials Technology and Chemotology”, “Oil Field Chemistry”. Postgraduate and postdoctoral programs are also offered.

Research

• asphalts technology;
• refinery of heavy oils and natural asphalts using intensive evaporation technology;
• solvent fractionation of high viscosity oils, natural asphalts and oil products;
• rapid analysis methods for aromatic hydrocarbons in oil products, octane and cetane ratio of motor fuels;
• development of chemical reagents for intensification of oil extraction and handling.
