The Department of Organic Chemistry is one of the most famous and oldest departments of the University. It was founded in 1930 on the basis of Butlerov Department of Organic Chemistry of Kazan State University. Professor A.E. Arbuzov was the first Department Chair. Since 2001 the Department has been chaired by Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Full Professor Oleg G. Sinyashin

Academics

The Department provides courses in a wide range of organic chemistry and organic synthesis disciplines to all degree programs students of the University. Postgraduate and postdoctoral programs in Chemistry are offered.

Research

• synthesis of phosphorous and heteroatomic compounds;
• properties of heteroatomic compounds;
• practical application of heteroatomic compounds.

The Department has close contacts with scientists from the Universities of different countries: USA, China, Great Britain, Germany, Austria, Spain, Poland.
