STUDENT CREATED AN “INVISIBILITY CLOAK” FOR EXTREME CONDITION SURVIVAL
17.07.2024

Alexey Kopylov is a graduate of the KNRTU Institute of Light Industry, Fashion and Design and a winner of “Student startup” contest organized by Innovation Promotion Fund for Small Entrepreneurship in Scientific and Technical Sphere.

This year as a part of his Master’s thesis he developed a cloak-tent with unique properties. The product is able to transform from poncho into a backpack, tent, stretcher, hammock or blanket in a matter of minutes, depends on what is needed at the moment.

Modern technologies made it possible to turn the person wearing the cloak-tent invisible to night vision devices. With its thermal insulation properties, it can also be used in extreme condition due to an insulation-based special heat-protective package with adjustable thickness.

“Right now, I am focused on bringing the product to the market to earn money from it. In the future I want to develop the cloak-tent further. I already have 4 prototypes, different from one another. Each of them can be used for a specific purpose” – said Alexey Kopylov.

“Startup as diploma” thesis is a business project that is developed by the student or a startup’s team. This project shows if the students can work independently and if they have acquired the skill required by the Federal State Standards of Higher Education.

Participating in the program is a way for the students to create something interesting, useful and potentially profitable. They can be a part of the team creating a unique product or technology they feel really passionate about, improve their soft and hard skills, and even earn some money while doing so.
