History

The Department of Clothing and Footwear Design is a structural subdivision of the Institute of Light Industry, Fashion and Design of Kazan National Research Technological University. The Department was founded in 2005. The department has laboratories of CAD and sewing technologies.

Academics

The Department runs the following educational programs:

Bachelor's Degree Programs:

• 29.03.05 Design of Light Industry Products (in the following areas: Garment Design; Design of Leather Goods; Design of Light Industry Products; Commodity Research and Expertise of Light Industry Goods);
• 22.03.01 Material Science and Technology of Materials (Design of Modern Materials on the Basis of Digital Technologies).

Upon completion of the Bachelor's Degree Program, there is an opportunity to pursue a Master's Degree Program in the same areas.

Research Activities

The main scientific areas:

• Research in the field of creation of personal protective equipment (PPE) for employees of the chemical and petrochemical industry, services and authorities;
• Research and development in the field of digitalization of the design process of light industry products;
• Research and design of adaptive products for individuals with disabilities as part of the “Accessible Environment” program;
• Anthropometric research for the improvement of standardized clothing and footwear designs.
