As a result of large-scale synthetic rubber production started in the Soviet Union in 1930s, the Department was established in 1932 by a world-known scientist Professor B. Arbuzov. The Department trains specialists in petrochemical monomer synthesis, preparation of tailor-made rubbers, process engineering and examination of elastomer properties.
