The Department was established in 1962 under the leadership of Professor Vladimir A. Kuzin. Since 1995 the Department has been chaired by Professor Vladimir I. Kurashov.

Academics

The Department runs courses in Philosophy, Concepts of Modern Natural Science for undergraduates of all degree programs; courses in Philosophy of Science, History and Methodology of Science for graduate students and courses in History and Philosophy of Science for postgraduate students.

Research

Research at the Department is prevalent in the field of methodology of interdisciplinary issues in the system “science – technology – man” including

• philosophy and methodology of science;
• philosophy of chemistry;
• philosophic anthropology;
• ontology and epistemology;
• philosophy of religion;
• philosophic aspects of folklore of russia’s peoples.
