Corporate Social Responsibility in EU Countries
10.11.2021

In 2021-22 academic year, during the classes in “EU Entrepreneurship Values: Cultural Diversity and Unity”, Julia Ziyatdinova, the Chair for Department of Foreign Languages for Professional Communication, runs discussions with students on the topics of corporate social responsibility in EU countries. The students learned the basic information about the ISO 26000 International Standard on Social Responsibility (CSR). After that, in teams, students learned the details of such core subjects in CSR, as organizational governance, human rights, labour practices, the environment, and consumer issues. Each of the teams presented the results of their investigations to the group.

Using A Guide to CSR in Europe Country Insights by CSR Europe’s National Partner Organisations and the European Commission resources on Corporate social responsibility & Responsible business conduct (https://ec.europa.eu/growth/industry/sustainability/corporate-social-responsibility-responsible-business-conduct_en), the students studied the examples of practical application of the ISO 26000 standard in different European countries. They found out that each of the countries has organizations which regulate the corporate social responsibility issues at the national level, and, at the same time, these organizations are united to lead the EU the journey towards the enterprise of the future.

At the end of the class, using the interactive online instrument Mentimeter.com, the students composed a cloud of meanings for the term of corporate social responsibility.
